Spring may be one of the most beautiful seasons of the year, but it also has its downside. The sudden bloom of flowers and warm gusts of wind can cause allergies and weigh you down as you go about your daily activities. Here are a few home remedies to help you deal with minor annoyances and get you back on track:

1. Apple Cider Vinegar

While hay fever or allergic rhinitis can occur during any season, it becomes most common in spring as pollen and other similar particles begin to float around in the air.

One of the best treatments for hay fever is that good old apple cider vinegar in your kitchen cupboard. Mixing this with regular apple juice or cider can mask the pungent smell of the acid.

Drinking apple cider vinegar daily has been scientifically proven to eliminate sinus headaches, nasal congestion, and runny eyes. It can also give a boost of energy, perfect for those spring activities with your family and friends.

water glass

Water is a precious commodity that we often take for granted. Conserving it not only benefits your community; it can also cut down your utility bills significantly.

March 22 marks the 19th anniversary of World Water Day, a day of observance established by the United Nations to highlight the importance of freshwater and advocate efforts to sustain water resources.

To take part in this important event, we’ve gathered some simple, practical tips to help save water in our homes.

Tip #1: Save water in the kitchen

• Keep a pitcher or bottle of drinking water ready in the fridge to avoid having to turn on your tap each time you are thirsty. Also, running your faucet for seconds just to “clear” the water of silt is wasteful.

• Don’t pour water into a glass or order water at a restaurant if you are not going to drink it all. If you’re not sure you can finish your water, ask your server to fill your glass only halfway and just refill it later.

• Don’t wash your fruits and vegetables under a running faucet. Clean them in a pot of water or sink with a stopper then reuse the rinse water for your houseplants.

• Save your cooking water. Don’t let the water you use to steam vegetables or boil pasta go to waste. The starchy water can be used in a sauce or as soup base.
